About GGS
The Global Graduate School (GGS) is a constitute institution of GOU for the administration of graduate programs offered by the various schools of the University. It is central to the University’s identity as a research center of excellence for graduate education, training, and research. The GGS, as part of its coordination role, serves as the hub for all graduate-level research activities, including seminars, conferences, mobilization of research funding, etc.
The Global Graduate School, as a cutting-edge R&D and research-intensive institution, attracts, recruits, and retains the best faculty, research staff, and research students whose research work is aimed at enhancing teaching and learning at the University and to contribute fundamentally to knowledge innovation, and the advancement of society at large.
The Graduate Programs
The Graduate (postgraduate) programs offered at GOU include Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma programs, Master’s degree programs, and PhD/Doctorate programs. Subject areas include Business Administration, Information Technology, Management, Computer Science, Education, Information Systems, Environmental Studies, Media and Journalism, Architecture, Agriculture and Forestry, Theology, Social Science, Project Management, Hospitality and Tourism, Science, Divinity, and in various fields of Engineering among others.
GGS also coordinates special graduate-level courses and programs targeted at our registered graduate students and professionals in various fields and disciplines.
Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma Programs
The postgraduate certificate programs are normally 3-4 months, and the postgraduate diploma programs are usually 5-6 months.
Master’s Degree Programs
Master’s degree programs at GOU are offered in various emerging subject areas of Business Administration, Computer Science, Education, Project Management, Science, Management, Information Technology, Accounting, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Real Estate Management, Banking and Finance, Supply Chain Management, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering Hospitality and Tourism, and in various fields of Engineering, Education, Media and Journalism, Agriculture and Forestry, social sciences, Environmental Studies, and Earth Sciences, among others.
The standard duration of the Master’s programs is up to 12 months.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)/ Doctorate Programs
A PhD and other Doctoral programs are designed to produce cutting-edge researchers and top-notch scholars in specific fields to cater to the needs of industry and commerce and meet the needs of universities and research institutions for high-caliber academics and researchers and critical subject area specialists.
The PhD/Doctorate programs can be completed within a minimum of three (3) years (thirty-six (36) months) and a maximum period of four (4) years (forty-eight (48) months). The residency period for the GOU PhD/Doctorate programs is two years, meaning candidates can only submit their PhD/Doctorate Thesis (in the case of PhD/Doctorate by Thesis) or PhD/Doctorate Research Portfolio (in the case of PhD/Doctorate by Publication) for the PhD/Doctoral examination process after two years uninterrupted enrollment on the PhD/Doctorate program.
The PhD/Doctorate programs are offered under two options:
PhD/Doctorate by Thesis – Candidates pursue a conventional PhD/Doctorate program that requires them to undergo research work under guidance and documents their research work and findings in the form of a PhD/Doctorate Thesis of between 80,000 and 100,000 words to submitted for the PhD examination process.
PhD/Doctorate by Publication – Also known as a PhD/Doctorate by Portfolio or by Published Works) is based on the recognition of an extensive amount of published research work in high quality peer review journals by the Candidate prior to application to the program, and during the period of enrollment.
